I had read total of seven books this month. They include:
1.The Book Thief
Author: Markus Zusak
Genre: Historical fiction, Young Adult
Set in Nazi Germany, this rather haunting novel tells the story of young Liesel, a ten year old, who is sent to a foster home where she grows up. Beautifully written, it was one of the best books I had ever read.
2.Delirium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Genre: Dystopian, Sci-Fi, young adult
Comment: It takes place in a world where love is considered a disease, and where everyone has to undergo an operation at the age of eighteen to make them incapable of love. The protagonist, Lena finds herself, a few days before her operation, falling in love, or catching the ‘deliria’ as it is called in that world, with a mysterious young boy, Alex.
3.Four
Author: Veronica Roth
Genre: Dystopian, Sci-Fi, Young Adult
A spin-off of the famous Divergent trilogy, it is a collection of stories told from the point of view of Four, a.k.a Tobias Eaton, who was one of the most important characters in Divergent.
4.Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe
Author: Benjamin Alire Saenz
Genre: Coming of age, Young Adult
Ari is an angst-ridden teen trying to find his way in the world, while fighting his intense curiosity about his brother, a convict. Dante is an unusual boy of Ari’s age. This book explores the relationship between the two boys, as they come of age.
.
5.The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Author: Michelle Hodkin
Genre :Paranormal, fantasy, young adult
Mara Dyer is haunted by nightmares ever since an accident killed her best friends. Her family decides it is in their best interests if they move to a different place. Mara tries to fit in in her new school, however, things are not as they seem to be.
6. 1984
Author: George Orwell
Genre: Political, social science, dystopian
Set in a chilling world, where every move is controlled by authority, where free thought is a crime, and where language itself is designed to limit an individual’s vision. I don’t usually enjoy classics, but this was…..chilling.
7. Crown
Author: Kiera Cass
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance
The final installment in the Selection Series, Princess Eadlyn has to choose a groom among the six finalists who made it to the top in the Selection.
