A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But this isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he has had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming.

This monster is different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.

Rating : 5/5

This book had been on my TBR for quote some time, and I am so glad I finally got around to reading it.  It was a really heart breaking read and it left me almost in tears. I loved the writing as well as the characters, I thought Conor was a precious cinnamon roll whom I wanted to protect from the world. The book had some important messages, which were really well done. I would definitely recommend this book, and I’m also looking forward to watching the movie adaptation when it comes out.
