The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag (Yet Again)

Today, I thought I’d revisit a tag that I had done more than once in the past- The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag. It’s a simple enough tag, where you get to voice your opinions. Needless to say, these are just my opinions, and if you disagree with them, that’s perfectly fine.

  1. What is a popular book or series that you didn’t like?

I’d go with Horns by Joe Hill. I didn’t think it was a bad book, it just did not keep me           hooked. It was disappointing, as it seemed to have a really cool concept.

2. What is a popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love?

I can’t say everyone hates this book, but I’ve heard a lot of people criticize this book            and while I can see where the criticisms are coming from, I thought it was an                      enjoyable read. It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, it did have its flaws, but  it did           entertain me. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

3. What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?

I haven’t read a book with a love triangle I cared for in a long time, so I really don’t have an answer to this.

4. What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?

I’m not sure that this counts as a genre, but I hardly ever reach for graphic novels, though I do have a few on my TBR.

5. What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

I don’t know if she’s popular or not, but I did not really care for Risa in Unwind by Neal Shusterman. I felt like her character was rather flat.

6. Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?

I recently picked American Gods by Neil Gaiman up, and I really couldn’t get into it. I had read a couple of other Gaiman books before, and I personally found them forgettable. It’s not that he isn’t a good writer, it’s just that his writing style isn’t for me.

7. What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?

Two people who are selected for some kind of thing together falling for each other. Like in the Hunger Games for example, where the two tributes randomly chosen just happen to be perfect for each other. I mean, what are the odds?

8. What is a book or series you have absolutely no interest in reading?

The Shatter Me series by Tahareh Mafi. I used to think it might be something I would be interested in, however, my reading tastes have changed a lot, and it doesn’t appeal to me at all now.

9. What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?

This is a tricky one, since I haven’t watched many movies or TV shows based on the books I have read. I haven’t watched Love, Simon yet, but the trailers look like it would be a really cute movie. I liked Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens agenda, however, it did not really stick with me , so perhaps I’d like the movie more than the book.
